They could probably take an occasional game off of edh decks, but it would be rough once your group understood what combo pieces to watch out for.įor my last offering, I would suggest ]. I have a ] list ( link) that combos with the commander, mana rocks and dorks, and ]. For example, most I have seen run the Peregrine Drake combo, but my list ( link) is one of the ones that runs on an artifact-focused combo that has a bit more redundancy.įor other combo decks, there are quite a few that rely on their commander. If looking at Disciple of Deceit, be sure to check out versions with different combos. It seems to be a work in progress though. U/Ruffigan maintains a list of PDH combos here: Izzet Guildmage also combos pretty easily with Dramatic Reversal + rocks, or Desperate Ritual + Lava Spike. Izzet also has some neat stuff with Banishing Knack or Retraction Helix. Something something Angelic Renewal and Ashnod's Altar? idk. I know a few folks who do some infinite combos with Renegade Rallier as well, but I don't know the details of those much. A sac outlet and a persist creature isn't infinite, but it's usually enough. I've got a Quillspike deck that capable of comboing. Tatyova, I've heard, is somehow even better (worse?) at turning anything into a combo. Galvanic Alchemist and Vigean Graftmage are very tutor-able alternatives to Freed from the Real. I took out the Cloud of Faeries and the Peregrine Drake so that it would combo less, then stumbled into the Breaching Hippocamp combo. I've got a Lay & Lore Weaver deck that I built to be group hug and that thing combos off on accident. I'll second the Tatyova and Lay/Lore Weaver ideas. I did find some interesting Disciple of Deceit combo lists, but I wanted to look at some other options before I settled on that as my commander. I tend to be more of a combo player, so I was wondering if anyone could recommend some PDH decks that were combo focused rather than value focused? I've been looking at decklists for the PDH commanders I see in the sidebar, but it seems like most of the izzet ones are focused around a commander that has power equal to instants/sorceries in the graveyard and the azorius ones are mostly blink/etb value decks. This had the added benefit of forcing me to play different cards rather than jamming Cyclonic Rift and Vampiric Tutor in every single deck. The way I see it is that I get access to new and interesting commanders that I wouldn't normally get to play at the price of having to make the deck all commons. I want to build something different and more outside of the box, so with permission from my playgroup I want to build a PDH deck to play against regular EDH decks. So I've been playing EDH for years and I love the format, but I find that there are lots of staple cards in each color that are just strictly correct to run if you have access to that color.
